“It’s rhetorical to compare two GPUs where one is worth 1.6x more than the other, but the cheaper one performs just as equally as the one worth more. I mean, I’ll give it to Nvidia for its abilities in ray tracing. It’s still not worth the ray-tracing performance,” said Zheng. These GPUs benchmarked through fps tests in games were relatively close in 4K resolution. Although the RTX 4090 is priced at $600 more than the RX 7900 XTX, the performance is quite outstanding. The RX 7900 XTX has a lower cost per frame than the RTX 4090, with a $2.69 difference.

Inflation
“The prices of both GPUs will inflate because there is high demand but low supply. Who knows? Maybe there will be a GPU shortage just like when the RTX 30 series were released,” said Shaibjot Singh. Previously, upon the release of Nvidia’s flagship RTX 30 series, there was a rapid rise in GPU prices as GPU miners purchased out most of the inventory of these GPUs. Demand-pull inflation is when the demand for goods and services increases. GPUs experience demand-pull inflation because there is high demand for the GPU but a low supply of the GPU.
