After finishing 9-1 in the regular season, the Edison Cricket team heads into the playoffs with confidence and a strong team spirit.
Ms. Butto, the head coach of the cricket team, believes that the team’s success comes from consistent practicing throughout the year.
“A lot of endurance and preparation,” Coach Butto said, explaining that players train both during the season and offseason. She also added that the team improved by fixing mistakes in the offseason. “The main thing I always focus on is maintaining the energy and not getting complacent,” Coach Butto added, highlighting one of her coaching priorities.
One key moment this season was the match against Richmond Hill. Coach Butto said the team went in confident and was able to start the season off with a strong win against the defending champions, setting the tone for the rest of the season.
Players said teamwork and confidence have also been a big part of their success. Sachin Lakhan getting MVP early during the season was a major highlight for him. Tanzim Jawad said that the team’s chemistry has helped him stay confident going into games.

“We are a lot more confident… the vibe is very high going into the final,” Sachin said, adding that the group feels stronger and more prepared this year.
After reaching the semi finals and then back to back final in the previous years, Tanzim believes that the team is driven by motivation. “Failure is what gives you motivation,” Tanzim said, explaining the motivation to finally win a championship.
As the playoffs approach, the team’s goal is clear: going all the way this year and winning the championship. “It would be a huge moment of pride for Edison, but even more so, it would mean something absolutely incredible for my athletes,” said Coach Butto.
