The summer of 2023 is filled with some fantastic movies coming out. The long-awaited sequel to “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is coming out and getting all the hype. A live-action Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie as well as two new superhero movies, “The Flash” and “Blue Beetle” are also hitting the theaters this summer. So many movies are arriving, but which is the most anticipated? Many Edison students and staff have some strong opinions on these movies.
A survey for everyone to fill out was posted on the Edison Class of 2023 google classroom and the results are in. When asked which movie they are most looking forward to watching this summer, 50% of students chose the movie “Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse.” Everyone seems to love Spiderman, especially this version of him.
“I absolutely love Spider-man and the entire concept of his originality and the fact that he’s from Queens makes me love him even more… but to have a black Spider-man that represents me has to be so fire and man the trailer is sick so who wouldn’t want to see it,” said Taliyah Stvilus.
“I love Marvel and I love what they have done to Spiderman’s character through Miles Morales,” said Macaila Pierre.
This movie is the most popular due to the fact that the first movie was highly rated.
“…I love the animation style and the first movie was amazing and the storyline seems very interesting. I’m excited to see how the story continues and what new characters will be introduced,” said Rheanna Lochan
Despite the love for Spiderman, the movie that came in second place with 11.7% of votes is “Insidious: The Red Door.”
Coming in at number 3 with 10% of votes is “The Barbie Movie.”
“Barbie is Iconic and so is Margot Robbie,” said Nicolas Diaz.
The fourth most anticipated movie this summer is “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” with 8.3% of votes.
Some more movies with 5% or fewer votes were “The Flash,” “Indiana Jones,” and “The Little Mermaid.”
Overall, within the Edison community, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is the most anticipated movie of the summer.
