Saving Lives, One Light At a Time

The Thomas Edison Key Club participated in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Light the Night Walk, which aims to raise awareness and funds to battle the epic disease.

Leukemia is cancer in the white blood cells; lymphocytes and granulocytes. These cells circulate throughout the bloodstream and the lymph system to help the body fight off viruses, infections.

Light the Night, hosted by Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, it is meant to raise awareness and fundraise to help those impacted by this condition. The event, which was held in October 28, 2018 was a night to remember those who lost their lives and those who continue to fight.

The proceeds of the event help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to provide research to even advocacy and awareness to patients and groups. Over the course of the past year the society has invested in $1.2 Billion in research and providing support for patients.

Thomas A. Edison Key Club participated in the event and describes the event as a way to remember those who lost with the significance of the lanterns (Red/White/Yellow) showcasing the the ones that keep fighting and the one that lost the battle.

Key Club Vice President Eshan Choudhury said, “Essential Light the Night where we raise awareness for leukemia, it is something that is extremely serious; what Key Club intends to do is make the world a better place. The event was extremely successful, almost $100 dollars was raised for the cause itself, along with a lot of other clubs also present at the event,we are making a change whether big or small it makes an impact.”
