TikTok has popularized a wide variety of trends, from dancing to lip-synching and even pranks. Now, the app is increasingly popular for providing tips-and-tricks for cooking, baking, and all eating purposes.
From making next-level whipped coffee to creating full-on meals in a few easy steps, TikTok users have provided simple techniques to elevate your chef game. Here are some of my favorite TikTok food hacks that guarantee include tips for your late night snacks during quarantine.
It seems that TikTok user @killtina has stumbled across the quickest way to combine your favorite chip with mozzarella cheese to create a quick, at-home snack. Start out by grabbing a bag of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, pour them into a Ziploc bag, and crush them with a rolling pin. After, use a mozzarella cheese stick, dip it into a bowl of beaten egg, and then flour, and then dip back into egg, and into the crushed Cheetos. Fry them in oil, and you are served with a delicious take on mozzarella sticks.
Crushing a bag of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and popping a piece of mozzarella cheese almost seems too easy to be true. Adding in the classic cooking steps of dipping it into egg and flour, the snack is easily replicated.
As someone who fails at attempting viral hacks, I was skeptical about the possibility to flawlessly flip your eggs and toast in one perfect motion and minutes later, fold it all into a neat sandwich. According to TikTok user @itisrami, all you need to do is whisk two eggs into a bowl, pour them onto a skillet, and dip two slices of bread into the egg mixture. Once the eggs are cooked, flip both the slices of bread over so that the eggs are now on top. You can add additional toppings to your breakfast sandwich before you complete the next step, such as cheese, based on your personal taste. Fold any overlapping edges of egg onto the bread, and then flip one slice of bread onto the other to finish off your sandwich.
I am here to tell you that the TikTok Breakfast sandwich hack works better than I expected. It was deliciously crisp and warm, and it serves as a reminiscent of French toast. As the kids say, “bone apple teeth.”
TikTok’s Take on Edible Cookie Dough – https://vm.tiktok.com/K7d9U2/
TikTok user, @nicole_thenomad, recreated a classic late night snack to make the perfect edible cookie dough recipe without the salmonella, and to be honest, it looks marvelous. Start out by rinsing your chosen brand of canned chickpeas, and putting them in a blender. Then make sure that you put 1/4 of a cup of peanut butter, 2 teaspoons of vanilla, three tablespoons of almond flour, and 2 tablespoons of Aunt Jemima syrup in the blender as well. Combine with chocolate chips after thoroughly blended.
Who would believe that chickpeas is the secret ingredient to making safe, raw edible cookie dough? This was able to cover my cravings, but I would add more honey or syrup next time to increase the sweetness. Chilling this cookie dough in the fridge also gave you the real “feel” of regular cookie dough.
I hope to see hacks for separating egg yolks, making mug cakes, and filling sponge cakes with cream. While I wait, I will enjoy my mini pancake cereal and daily whipped coffee.
