AP Psychology is a popular course among many students at Thomas A Edison Career and Technical Education High School.
Originally, the AP exam for this class was scheduled to be taken on May 16, 2025. However, something unexpected happened, as the Bluebook App experienced technical issues. Because of this, the platform crashed, and students who were expected to take the exam were unable to.
It was May 16, 2025, where two exams were expected to be taken on that day, AP Physics 1 and AP Psychology. AP Physics 1’s testing had gone flawlessly, and students were able to start at 7:30 AM and finish at their respective time; it was assumed that testing would continue as normal. However, something unexpected happened, a small number of students were unable to log in. More and more students struggled to log in, until the majority of the testing room was unable to log into the exam.
Slowly but surely, students got more and more impatient. The proctors ended up focusing more on trying to find out what was wrong with College Board. At 1:00PM proctors dismissed students, saying that they are expected to return to their normal classes.
So what actually caused the issue for logging in? Was it the schools Wi-Fi, issues with the Chromebooks that we were given, or maybe something else. Well, it turns out that the login issue was not at all a result of Edison’s unpreparedness, but rather College Board having their own issues.
College Board then came out with a statement on May 16 2025, stating that, “Some students encountered an issue that prevented them from logging into the College Board’s Bluebook testing application and beginning their exams at the assigned local start time. The issue was resolved by about 1:45 p.m. EDT; the AP Program extended the start time for the exam to 2 p.m. local time, enabling schools with that flexibility in their schedules to begin the exam.”
Students were now expected to take the exam on the late testing day for AP Psychology that College Board had set in place; May 23 at 12:00 PM
However, the trouble doesn’t end there, as it turns out that the testing day was on the same day as Senior Decision Day. Students would have to make a choice, whether they wish to study in the morning or attend Senior Decision Day and then take their test immediately after.
In the end, what was originally supposed to be a straightforward test turned out to be a rollercoaster of events. Technical issues, all though outside of our schools control, caused a small ripple effect that affects students in more ways than one.
The exam followed through with its rescheduled date on May 23rd without any issues.
