The 2023-2024 school year has been an emotional rollercoaster, especially for seniors. As part of the graduating class of 2024, this year has been stressful for seniors due to college applications, FAFSA, and most importantly preparation for graduation. As the year wraps up and will be concluded, it is graduation season for all seniors, after interviewing some seniors and their thoughts and feelings about graduating high school. They want to share some thoughts on how they feel about senior year ending and their plans after high school.
As the year ends seniors have mixed emotions about leaving high school. Esau Anthony, a senior in the Electrical Installation program, is interested in pursuing a career based on shop-class Electrical Installation.
“My plan after high school is to be an Electrician. While I’m not attending college, I know I will be happier than most. As a graduating senior, I will miss some friends and teachers. But I am ultimately happy to accomplish this important milestone of graduation,” said senior Esau.
Esau is a senior who doesn’t want to go to college, but his interest aligns with becoming an Electrician. In Thomas A. Edison Career And Technical Education High School, there are various CTE subjects offered in which students can complete certifications to get a second diploma for a career pathway. He also talks about how important graduating high school means to him.
“But I am ultimately happy to accomplish this important milestone of graduation. It’s only now hitting me that I will never see some of these people again. However, we’ll keep in touch while we enjoy our lives,” said senior Esau.
Many seniors are going through a time of their lives with nostalgia. As seniors embark on the next chapter of their lives. Tamir Ahmed a senior in the IT specialist shop has mixed emotions about how he feels about graduating High School and how he feels about going to college.
“I feel both happy and sad. One part of me is excited about graduating and starting college, a whole new beginning. At the same time, the other part is sad about leaving Edison,” said senior Tamir.
Tamir also talks about how his friends are also going to be going to other colleges, and how it would impact him.“ Many of my friends are moving away from college which is also unfortunate. But overall, I feel both happy and sad about this experience,“ said senior Tamir.
Finally, this is the last year for seniors and this year has been a memorable experience for all seniors that they would remember for the rest of their lives. As graduation is coming many seniors are excited and sad because it is the end of their high school career.
