Many of you probably have an idea of where you want to go but for others, narrowing down your choices may be difficult while there is a lot to consider.
When deciding on a college, it is important to know what you are looking for. For example, you might need to do research on specific schools to find out what their programs are like. It is also very helpful to attend open houses or admitted students day for multiple colleges so that you learn more about them.
The tuition of colleges may look like a tremendous amount, especially if you are looking at private schools. However, there are always scholarships and grants that you can apply for. For example, the FAFSA, TAP, or other school specific scholarships. Always choose to use these “free money” first before taking out loans as it could stick with you for many years after graduation.
If you are deciding between a more prestigious school with some aspects that doesn’t fit your needs and a school that fits your needs but isn’t ranked as high, go for the one that fits your needs, choose a place where you are comfortable and happy.
Lastly, you should be proud of yourself for your hard work and accomplishments whether or not you got in your top choice. It is such a normal thing to find out a year later that you don’t like where you are and you can always transfer to another school. Don’t stress too much about this, you can do it.
