One of the best ranked soccer teams in the world has gotten themselves entangled in matches without their star player, Cristiano Ronaldo. Out of form, out of goals and missing their former shooter, Madrid sets a new record for the longest goal drought in their history.
The top ranked soccer club, Real Madrid FC is now falling behind since Cristiano Ronaldo signed a contract to play for another team, Juventus FC. The club was unable to score a goal for 481 minutes, having failed to score in their last four games against Sevilla, CSKA Moscow, Alves, and Atletico Madrid. However, it took them 72 minutes to finally score in their next match against the team, Levante by player Marcelo.
“The atmosphere in the dressing room is not good. When you do not score in three consecutive games, it is a bit of a worry.”said, Real Madrid player Luka Modric as reported by Chicago Tribune. “Cristiano brings you a lot of goals. He scored 50 goals per season and it is clear that they miss them” said goalkeeper, Oier Olazabal. After eight matches, Madrid currently is in the fifth position in the league with 14 pints. In the Champions league they sit third in Group G behind CSKA and Roma.
Their 1-0 defeat by CSKA Moscow left them three games without a win with the other two losses coming from Sevilla and Atletico Madrid. A ray of hope sparked in them when player Marcelo finally scored a goal after 72 minutes while playing against Levante ending the goal drought that they had for 480 minutes in the competition.
Madrid’s goal drought record was broken by Marcelo giving them a ray of hope for the upcoming matches.
