There comes a time in every school year when students need to relax and reward themselves for their hard work. With that being said, there’s no better way to unwind than with an eating utensil and a flaky, crispy, creamy, chocolatey, hot, fluffy, rich, or light dessert.
NYC is a tourist magnet for a myriad of reasons, and the food is no exception. This means that Manhattan isn’t the only borough where great treats can be found.
One such place is Lulu’s Bakery in Fresh Meadows on Union Turnpike. Don’t let its small exterior fool you, as a whole world of treats awaits inside. They harbor a wide variety of desserts to try, varying from the traditional cakes, pies, and donuts to tiramisu and cannolis.
It’s a great place to stop by for high-quality desserts at an affordable price. I purchased 4 tiramisu, 2 brownies, and two cannolis for under $15. Although, be forewarned that pies and cakes are only sold whole, so asking for a slice of cheesecake was out of the question.
If you plan on having a party and need to make a big order, they take orders in bulk that you pick up. This should not be confused with catering, which they don’t do. Their hours are 7:30 AM to 7:00 pm from Monday to Saturday and 7:30 am to 5:00 pm on Sundays.
They’re not the best place for dining in, but if you want to surprise that special someone with their favorite dessert, Lulu’s definitely has what you’re looking for.
